Bad Bunny, born Benito Antonio Martnez Ocasio on March 10, 1994, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, is a Puerto Rican singer and composer who helped popularise reggaeton and trap music. His urban music style also included elements of rock, punk, and soul.
He began singing as a toddler and adopted his stage moniker, Bad Bunny, after publishing an internet photo of himself as a child wearing a bunny outfit with a nasty expression on his face. He started a Twitter account with that handle, and it stuck as he rose to stardom. Bad Bunny examined audiovisual contact at the University of Puerto Rico in Arecibo. He worked on his music, which focuses on reggaeton and trap music, at night. The former is a mix of Spanish-language rap and reggae, whereas the latter concentrates on urban issues such as drugs and violence and employs synthesized snare drums and cymbals to create an explosive beat.
Bad Bunny started uploading tracks to SoundCloud, an international audio network where subscribers can share music. Later that year, he collaborated with Drake on the song “Ma” (“Mine”), which peaked at number five on the Billboard Hot 100. Bad Bunny emitted his preferably studio album, X 100PRE, at the back of 2018 with his favor skyrocketing; the label is an abbreviation for per sempre, or “evermore.” The album, which includes “Ma” and 14 other songs, is a mash-up of several genres, including pop-punk, hip-hop, electro, and dembow (a Jamaican musical rhythm).
Bad Bunny and J Balvin collaborated on the 2019 album Oasis, a blend of Spanish, Latin American, African, and other sounds. Bad Bunny will sing during the Super Bowl halftime performance in early February 2020. Later the following month, he released YHLQMDLG (an acronym for Yo hago lo que me da la gana, or “I do whatever I want”), a party-themed album that was both critically and commercially successful. Bad Bunny won his first Grammy for Best Latin pop or urban album with YHLQMDLG.
El ultimo tour del mondo (“The Last World Tour”), his third solo album, was released in late 2020. It was the first Spanish-language album to debut at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, and it received a Grammy for best urban music album. Un verano sin tu (2022; “A Summer Without You”), which debuted at number one, continuing Bad Bunny’s success. The album, like his previous efforts, contained a mix of genres, and a lot of the tracks were collaborations with independent musicians. Bad Bunny won his second Grammy for best urban music album, as well as multiple Latin Grammys.
