John Denver – Bio, Age, Life Style, And Net Worth

John Denver (born December 31, 1943, in Roswell, New Mexico, United States—died October 12, 1997, in Monterey Bay, California, United States), was an American singer and composer known for his wholesome, nostalgic music that glorified nature’s and life’s simple joys. He was a well-known performer during the 1970s.
Denver began performing folk tunes on a 1910 Gibson guitar given to him by his grandmother when he was 12 years old. In the mid-1960s, he relocated to Los Angeles, where he adopted the name of Colorado’s capital, a state whose natural beauty he adored, and joined the Chad Mitchell Trio. “Leaving on a Jet Plane,” one of his early songwriting efforts, was recorded by Peter, Paul, and Mary in 1967 and became a number-one hit in 1969. Rhymes and Reasons, his first solo album, was released the same year. In 1971, he released the million-seller “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” which was followed by the evocative “Rocky Mountain High” (1972) and the mega-hit “Sunshine on My Shoulders” (1974).

Denver earned an international following with his clear tenor voice and native lyrics while playing acoustic guitar. Along with 14 gold and eight platinum playlists, he was dubbed Colorado lyricist laureate in 1974 and Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year in 1975. Although Denver’s commercial pinnacle came in the mid-1970s with albums like Greatest Hits (1973), Back Home Again (1974), and Windsong (1975), he continued to record and perform, appearing in a number of television specials and the film Oh, God! (1977).

Denver, a persistent advocate for animal and land conservation, cofounded the Windstar Foundation in 1976, and his 20 years with UNICEF demonstrated his dedication to ending hunger and poverty. Denver died when the handcrafted experimental airplane he was flying crashed off the coast of California, despite the fact that he was an accomplished pilot educated by his father, an air force officer.
